110 participants from Ghana took part in Central Regional Training of Trainers Workshop on CLTS conducted by CLTS foundation.The 5-day training was inaugurated on August 26,2013. On the last day of the workshop, high level staff of UNICEF Ghana,6 District Executives and Assembly Members, regional officers of EHSD and other government departments visited the workshop.The participants observed that there are resource persons in the community who could provide good ideas of constructing hygienic latrine locally at the HHs and that they can construct easily by their own. During this Tot, the participants learnt triggering process and tools in groups for two days covering 16 communities. Just after 24 hours of the ToT, about 60 household pit-latrines were constructed by the community members and emerging natural leaders.All 16 communities came forward in groups and prepared action plans to make their villages Open Defection Free (ODF) within a period of 2 months amidst the prevailing situation where about 70% population don’t have household toilets.On the last day of the training community action plans were presented to the participants, district and regional level executive officers by the community groups of all 16 villages.
