A workshop on learning community-led total sanitation was recently conducted by CLTS Foundation in collaboration with Lions International & Sabuj Sangha, a local NGO. The program was held at Indian Institute of Training & Development (IITD), Kolkata saw enthusiastic participants come together from different parts of South 24-Pargana district of West Bengal & Orissa to learn & interact on sanitation. Dr.Kamal Kar spear-headed the four –days training session with Mr.Sisir Pradhan co-conducting the event. The trainees had the opportunity to learn detailed methods & tools of CLTS with active participation in various side events & field visits.Success stories of CLTS implementation all over the world were also shared with them. Dr.Kar facilitated the group to initiate CLTS implementation in few locations of West Bengal. The event could witness a transformation in the outlook of the trainees that sanitation is more a social & behavioral change rather than a donor-led technical issue.
