Southern Africa Regional Workshop on Community Led Total Sanitation
The Southern Africa Regional Workshop on Community Led Total Sanitation kicked off on 1st April 2014 with the Minister of Water, Forestry and Agriculture, the Minister of Health and Social Services and representatives of six countries in southern Africa: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and Swaziland . The workshop is hosted by Government of Namibia in collaboration with UNICEF regional and Nambia country offices and CLTS Foundation. Over seventy five participants from government, UNICEF, NGOs and the CLTS Foundation will spend three days developing action plans for the initiationof CLTS in the Southern Africa region leveraging theexperience of countries in the region that have significant experience in this area. The Southern Africa region is characterized by high rural open defecation, middle income status countries and high stunting rates.
