CLTS Foundation in collaboration with UNICEF has been providing a yearlong capacity building support to Government of Ghana. The third regional training of trainers workshop for five days has recently been concluded on 24th August 2013 for Upper East and Upper West region in Bolga Tanga, Upper East region. The workshop was attended by 142 participants including District Executive Officers, District Assembly members, senior officers of Department of Environmental health and sanitation, Department of Community Development and NGOs. Upper East and Upper West are the two regions where access to basic sanitation is very low. The percentages of people practising OD in both regions are 79% and 71% respectively. The workshop has created strong positive momentum in the region to scale up CLTS through interdepartmental coordination and use of natural leaders and community consultants. The workshop was concluded in a positive note with all districts presenting their six month plan to fast track the CLTS implementation. Dr. Kamal Kar facilitated the workshop along with Sisir Pradhan and Dr Shayamal Saha from CLTS foundation as co-facilitators.
