A special side event “Transforming sanitation: CLTS around the world” was held in front of the Dynast Hall in Yak & Yeti Hotel, Nepal on the first day of SACOSAN V. Around 40 participants had the opportunity to directly interact with Dr. Kamal Kar on matters of CLTS. Other eminent members present were Prof Robert Chambers, Shri Deepak Sanan and Mr. Chris Williams. Dr. Kar discussed at length on the institutional open defecation as the major challenges faced while Shri Deepak Sanan talked about subsidy as the key to inhibiting progress in India. A short question and answer session followed before the event finally closed.
